Scream Queens was the first collaboration with award winning show runner Ryan Murphy. The series lent itself to a somewhat serious but also tongue-in-cheek tonal approach to the overall design. Serving as the shows main environment the sorority house called for an exaggerated realism inspired by the glamor of the Hollywood Regency style pioneered by Dorothy Draper. Stylistically a gritty reality integrated with moments of elevated sophistication defined the remainder of the series. As with all Ryan Murphy productions the show called for multiple character defining flashbacks that adds depth and layers to the production and also exciting design possibilities.
