Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Andrew Murdock attended the University of Sydney, School of Architecture, Design and Planning, earning a Bachelor of Science (arch). After graduating, Andrew established JUXCYCLE 1.2.1, a designer-maker collaboration with jewelry designer Matt Wise, creating a range of functional objects primarily from automotive parts. Andrew then attained a Bachelor Of Architecture (Ist class Honors) from the University of New South Wales, Faculty of the Built Environment, in Sydney, Australia. A brief period of working in the Sydney architectural industry cemented a desire to relocate to the United States in 1996 to pursue a career in entertainment design.

Andrew's first job in Los Angeles was as a concept model-maker on ALIEN RESURRECTION, the fourth installment in the Alien franchise. Andrew also researched, wrote and designed the official Making Of Alien Resurrection publication for Harper Collins. This self-directed project provided an in-depth insight into the full array of the filmmaking process and implanted a passion for worldbuilding in the cinematic paradigm.

Andrew's initial PRODUCTION DESIGN projects include television commercials directed by Luke Scott at RSA. These projects lead to Assistant ART DIRECTING work on the films MONKEYBONE and LOONEY TUNES - BACK IN ACTION. Soon after, Andrew became established as an ART DIRECTOR working on major television projects 24 and LOST (Hawaii), and then the iconic anthology series AMERICAN HORROR STORY - ASYLUM, COVEN and FREAKSHOW. He also ART DIRECTED feature films FASTER, MY BLOODY VALENTINE (Pittsburgh), COUPLES RETREAT (Bora Bora) and STAR TREK - INTO DARKNESS, which provided further experience in science fiction worldbuilding.

As a PRODUCTION DESIGNER Andrew worked with renowned show runner Ryan Murphy on the first season of SCREAM QUEENS (New Orleans), and AMERICAN HORROR STORY - ROANOKE, which garnered him an Art Directors Guild Award nomination, for Excellence in PRODUCTION DESIGN for a Limited Series. Collaboration with director Justin Lin led to designing the subterranean worlds for STAR TREK - BEYOND additional photography and the brutalist environments for the reboot of the successful CBS drama S.W.A.T.

Andrew lives in Hawaii with his wife, son, mother-in-law and two dogs.
